Performance
Task
Assessment
Purpose:
This summative task will assess the students’ ability to understand proportional relationships, apply appropriate mathematical reasoning to solve relationships, and solve for missing values in proportions. This unit's focus has been on students understanding of the use of variables in expressions and equations. Students have been assessed on combining “like” terms, use the four mathematical operations appropriately, and work with numbers in a variation of forms. Students then worked on understanding the use of variables in expressions and equations. Now, students will use this understanding to apply understanding of proportions to solve for unknowns in real life equations. This formative and summative assessment will look to evaluate students' depth of understanding.
Directions:
During this assessment, you will complete at least TWO tasks provided here. Your skills and understanding of proportional relationships are the focus here! Recording sheets will be provided to you. Please make sure your name, date, and hour are located at the topic. Make sure to select which activity you will be completing. Questions and answers will be specific to each activity.
You will be given TWO FULL days to complete the assessment.
The TWO activities that you choose to complete have a possibility of 12 TOTAL points earned. Therefore, your Performance Task Assessment will be worth 24 points. This grade will be placed inside your 80% assessments category.
Task A = 12 Points
Task B = 12 Points
Task C = 12 Points
Complete TWO ONLY
Accommodations
Time: If a student requires more time to complete the Performance Task Assessment, then a plan will be put in place for each individual student. The options for time extension include: before advisory, during lunch, and after school. No penalty will be issued.
Resources: If a student needs instructions read out loud, students will be taken to a separate location. In this space, directions will be read and students can openly ask clarifying questions. The students will be taken to this room with an available paraprofessional.
Technology Challenges: If a student has a difficult time using a computer, print outs will be made available. The exact same activities will be provided.
